The short answer
PackHunter's ranking was not tested, and testing reverses its order. Its article, The 9 best eBay sold listings APIs in 2026, ranked (updated October 15, 2026), says it ranked the APIs from their docs and price pages and "didn't run paid tests".
We sent the same 100 searches to five of the APIs it ranks on October 20, 2026. The one PackHunter placed 4th, CompSniper, returned the fewest wrong items: 6.3%. PackHunter's top three returned 26.5% to 28.8%, roughly four times as many.
Ranked vs measured
Wrong items are listings that are not the product searched for: another model, grade or set, an accessory, a part or a look-alike. They are what drags a median price away from what the item really sells for.
| API | PackHunter rank | Wrong items (our test) | Median off, typical search |
|---|---|---|---|
| CompSniper | #4 | 6.3% | 5.0% |
| Trawl | #7 | 20.7% | 5.9% |
| Soldgraph | #1 | 26.5% | 7.2% |
| SoldComps | #3 | 28.0% | 8.6% |
| CompsAPI | #2 | 28.8% | 14.6% |
Lower is better in both columns. Results for every search are in the published data (CSV). OpenWeb Ninja, the eBay Sold Listings API, Apify actors and Marketplace Insights were not part of this test.
Claim by claim
"Soldgraph is the most complete sold-data API we found" (ranked #1)Not supported
Soldgraph does cover the most marketplaces. But on eBay sold data, the thing the ranking is about, it returned 26.5% wrong items, more than four times CompSniper's 6.3%. Its median was 7.2% off the true price on a typical search, against 5.0%. Breadth of coverage is not the same as getting the right items back.
CompsAPI ranked #2 and SoldComps #3Not supported
These two returned the most wrong items in our test: 28.8% for CompsAPI and 28.0% for SoldComps. CompsAPI's median was 14.6% off the true price on a typical search, the widest gap we measured. On electronics, 48.3% of CompsAPI's rows were the wrong item.
"Every ranked option returns eBay sold listings"Left out
True, and every API in our test found a similar share of the real sales: 53% to 59%. What the ranking leaves out is how much else comes back with them. Between 1 in 16 rows and more than 1 in 4 rows were the wrong item, depending on the API. That gap, not the number of rows, decides whether your comps are usable.
CompSniper: "No Depop", no mention of GrailedOut of date
Since October 18, 2026, CompSniper returns Grailed sold and current listings and Depop current listings, on the same key as eBay in 8 countries, Poshmark, Mercari and TCGplayer. Depop sold history is not offered.
Long price history credited to CompsAPI onlyLeft out
PackHunter ranks CompsAPI for long history: up to 1,095 days on its Growth plan and above, 1 year on Free and Starter. CompSniper also reaches 3 years of eBay sold history and includes it on every plan, the free one too. The ranking does not mention it.
Accepted Best Offer prices credited to CompsAPI onlyLeft out
eBay shows the listing price on a sale that closed on an accepted offer, which overstates what the buyer paid. CompSniper also returns the accepted Best Offer price where it is available, at no extra cost.
Trawl ranked #7Left out
Trawl was second in our test, with 20.7% wrong items and a median 5.9% off. It covers only eBay US and UK, which is a fair reason to rank it lower for some buyers, but on accuracy it beat all three of PackHunter's top picks.
What PackHunter gets right
- eBay's own APIs. findCompletedItems was decommissioned on February 5, 2025, the Browse API returns active listings only, and Marketplace Insights is a limited release for approved developers.Correct
- Apify actors and Best Offer. Scrapers that read eBay's sold page show the asking price on Best Offer sales, not the accepted one.Correct
- Price lists. The plan prices it lists match what we recorded from each vendor's pricing page on October 19, 2026.Correct

How we checked
We wrote 100 searches in advance across trading cards (50), electronics (20), fashion (13) and collectibles (17), each with a written definition of the correct item. On October 20, 2026 every search went to CompSniper, Soldgraph, CompsAPI, Trawl and SoldComps with default settings. All 18,450 unique rows returned were pooled, shuffled and labeled right or wrong against the definition without knowing which API returned them. The full method is on the methodology page.
PackHunter's claims are quoted from its article as published on October 15, 2026. If it updates the article, we will update this page.
FAQ
Is PackHunter's eBay sold listings API ranking accurate?
Its prices and its notes on eBay's own APIs are mostly right, but the order is not backed by testing. PackHunter says it did not run paid tests. In our blind test of 100 searches, the API it ranked 4th (CompSniper) returned 6.3% wrong items, while its top 3 (Soldgraph, CompsAPI, SoldComps) returned 26.5% to 28.8%.
Which eBay sold listings API is the most accurate?
CompSniper, in our October 20, 2026 test: 6.3% of returned rows were the wrong item, against 20.7% for Trawl, 26.5% for Soldgraph, 28.0% for SoldComps and 28.8% for CompsAPI. Its median price was also closest to the true price.
Does CompSniper support Depop and Grailed?
Yes. Since October 18, 2026 CompSniper returns Grailed sold and current listings and Depop current listings, alongside eBay in 8 countries, Poshmark, Mercari and TCGplayer. PackHunter's October 15 update lists Depop as missing and does not mention Grailed.
Which eBay sold API has the longest history?
CompSniper and CompsAPI both reach about 3 years of eBay sold history. CompSniper includes it on every plan, free included; CompsAPI includes it on Growth and above and 1 year on its lower plans.
Do all eBay sold listings APIs return the same data?
No. They found a similar share of the real sales (53% to 59% in our test), but they differed a lot in how many wrong items came back with them, from 6.3% to 28.8% of rows. Wrong items are what pull a median price away from the real one.
